Green Smoothie Recipe

Happy Thursday folks!

I haven't been feeling well the past few days and the weather lately makes it impossible to shoot outfit pics. I've been wanting to share some recipes of my smoothies and figured what better time to do it than now.

Today I'll be sharing my simple and healthy green smoothie recipe. When I'm "good" this is what I drink every morning.

Roughly chop the apple and pear. I like ginger so I use more than an inch but if it's not your thing then about an inch is fine. Cut the ginger into slices.

I make my smoothies with the NutriBullet, I love it!  But if you don't have one, no worries, a blender or something similar will do. I fill the NutriBullet cup halfway with kale, about a handful, and then add the chopped apple and pear. Then add the 2 ¹⁄² cups of water (for me that means up to the "max" line). I use just filtered water but you can also use coconut water as well.  For some reason I like to add the ginger last, so go ahead and add the slices of ginger. Blend for about a minute and that's it! Should you want a more liquefied consistency then add more water.

Mason jars are my thing so I like to drink my smoothies out of one but you can drink yours out of whatever your heart desires. Wine glass? Why not!? LOL

For me, a "green smoothie" is not just about the color but what I put in it. I like to put green fruits and veggies (with the exception of the ginger of course!) so usually I'll add cucumber, celery, parsley, kiwi and a bit of cilantro.  However, I make this with whatever I have on hand, and that's what I did for this. And trust me, it's still as delicious. I don't like to add sugar, honey, or any other sweetener.  The apple and pear do a good enough job of adding natural sugar.

I gulp this down as soon as I'm done! No slow sippin' going on here! I like this in the morning because I feel more energized and having something so healthy first thing helps me stay on track throughout the day so I eat less crap.  Sometimes though, I will have a smaller size for a snack.

I hope you give this recipe a try and if you do, let me know how you like it!
