UNPLUGGED & TOTALLY UNCUT W/ARROE COLLINS

ADVICE FOR YOUNG WOMEN LOOKING TO GET INTO ACTING

I would tell any young women or man that you are enough. I don’t think we even hear that enough in our society, you know what I mean? When it comes to things like losing weight, I totally get it if the role calls for it, but when someone just wants you to lose it just to lose it and it doesn’t have anything to do with the storyline and it’s irrelevant I wonder why do we do that to one another.

on a subject she'd like to write about in the future...

Mental health is an issue that is not talked about within the Latino community. That’s something I’d like to tackle in my writing. Also, biculturalism: the feeling of not belonging, of never being “good enough” or accepted in either culture (Latino and American). Anyone that knows me knows I’m all about motivating and inspiring–that’s a goal in my writing.

"I think the best part about being an actor in today’s world is being able to witness the changes occurring in the industry because some of the changes are great for minority actors, meaning more opportunities and visibility. We’ve come a long way but there’s still so much work to be done." via Seat 42F

when she decided to pursue acting...

I may not have known that it was called “acting,” but I knew I wanted to be an actress from a very young age. If there was a particular moment that solidified that dream for me it would have to be when I was in a church play at age 5 or 6. From that moment on, that was it! I was going after it. As hard as it got and continues to get, I never stopped. Thank God!

"There have been so many people throughout my acting journey who were some of my influences. Acting wise, Rita Moreno, Lauren Velez, Meryl Streep, and Gina Torres are women whose work I’ve always admired. But, also my fellow classmates and teachers have all contributed in some way, to help my development as an actor and as a person. Every interaction is a lesson." via Regard Mag
