4 Reasons Why You're Breaking Out

We all have those moments when our face is completely OUT OF CONTROL! Trust me I know how frustrating it can be. Can’t a girl just have clear skin!? If your skin is acting up then it’s time reevaluate a few things. Here are 4 reasons why you’re breaking out and what to do about it.

1. Dirty makeup brushes carry tons of bacteria!!! If you’ve tried everything under the sun and nothing’s working then washing your brushes may be the trick. Ideally you should wash then once a week, but let’s get real we know we push this for as long as possible!! I like to use my face wash to clean my brushes and also my conditioner. After drying overnight they are so soft and feel great against the skin. In between uses spritz a daily antibacterial cleaner on them. I like the Daily Makeup Brush Cleaner by Sephora.

2. Dead skin clogs your pores and clogged pores leads to breakout. It’s important to use a gentle exfoliator once a week to remove impurities and remove the layer of dead skin that’s just chilling on top doing nada. Try the Dr. Brandt PoreDermabrasion Pore Perfecting Exfoliator. It’s great for minimizing large pores and smoothing the skin.

3. Water is life! We need water!!! I know it sounds so cliché but water is really important for detoxifying the body and for overall health. If it ain’t right on the inside it’ll show on the outside. Up your water intake and if you need a little flavor add slices of lemon, cucumber or mint to your H2O.

4. Diet goes hand in hand with water, as the saying goes “you are what you eat.” Pay particular attention to what you’re putting into your body and the effects they have on you. Chances are you’re eating something that’s triggering the breakouts. We’re all different so what’s a trigger for me may not be for you so keep a food journal and try to narrow down what it can be.

Once you have determined what is causing the breakouts and set a skincare routine in place it’ll be so much easier to keep it in check. Getting and maintaining clear skin takes time, and is surely a process, but definitely worth it!
