Maintaining a healthy lifestyle (diet and exercise) involves commitment and making smart choices. It's a process that must be practiced for it to become second nature and easily part of your lifestyle. In addition to my regular workouts, I recently decided to cut out dairy and meat. But I don't feel comfortable saying I'm vegan; there is so much more to true veganism that we forget about.

I'm still learning what works for my body, what foods I like, easy meals to make, fulfilling snacks etc. But I will say it's been a little easier than I expected. Since my schedule is unpredictable I have a bad habit of not eating for hours. I'm working on it! I prefer to eat 5-6 meals a day instead of 3 big meals, and healthy snacking in between is key.

Whether I'm getting ready for an early morning workout or have computer work to do, a cup of coffee is necessary. These Nice! pods are a lifesaver! The french roast is stronger than other brands I’ve tried and the flavor is great too. Even the boy was pleasantly surprised and he’s such stickler with his coffee.

Bringing snacks with me for those days I’m out and about makes such a difference. Like I said, I have a very bad habit of not eating for hours because I’m waiting to get home to eat. No, no, no! A quick stop into Walgreens (or Duane Reade) for Nice! products is your best bet to stay on track. The new packaging makes the nutrition label easy to read which is especially helpful when you’re trying to make a smart healthy decision. Rest assured that you’re getting balanced food with real ingredients, reduced artificial ingredients, no PHO’s and no trans fats. Simple. Honest. Delicious.

These chili-lime flavored cashews are perfect to throw in your bag when you’re in need of a quick snack. They’re quite filling too. I recently brought it with me to the movie theater so I wouldn’t feel tempted to buy your typical movie theater snacks. And the other day my friend came over and fell in love with them! She literally left me a handful.

Another snack option is raw mixed nuts like these; never roasted, never salted and contain up to 60% cashews. I prefer raw because most of the time I’ll see roasted, salted, honey something flavored nuts in stores. This pack is ideal for getting in your serving of healthy fats free of added sugar and unnecessary calories.

Also, for a delicious dessert, cut an apricot (peach or pear) in half and remove the pit. Crush a handful of the mixed nuts and place in the pit-hole. Sprinkle with cinnamon and a drizzle of honey (if you want) and bake at 350 for about 20 minutes. You guys, it’s so dam good! They’re great to add to your smoothies too.
