HYDRATING + PORE REFINING TONERS FOR SMOOTH GLOWY SKIN

Yesterday we kicked off #SkinCareWeekWithMi covering the best cleansers for oily + acne-prone skin and today we continue with toners. When it comes to toners I admit that I stick to what I know and rarely switch it up which is why this list is so short!

A toner is a liquid that absorbs quickly into the skin helping to remove any dirt, oil, and makeup. It also can help to restore the pH balance of your skin. If you have oily skin, acne-prone skin or both, toner can also help treat those concerns. The market has changed greatly with toners and is not only limited to those skin types. There are toners specifically for many other concerns and adding one into your regimen after cleansing is definitely a good idea.

The toners I used back in the day, Neutrogena Alcohol-Free Toner, and astringents like the Neutrogena Clear Pore Eliminating Astringent and the Clean & Clear Essentials Oil-Free Deep Cleaning Astringent were of my youth. As I got older I felt like my skin changed and so naturally I wanted to find something that not only was less harsh than an astringent typically is but also more appropriate for my “mature skin.” However, you just might like them so give it a shot! Below are the ones that made it to the next phase so to speak. I get into my Holy Grail later in the week but it’s more of an exfoliator and therefore kept it off this list.

  • Dickinson's Original Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner
The Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner is my absolute favorite! Large pores are one of my main concerns and the Pore Perfecting Toner is so helpful in that department. It is gentle and safe to use everyday making your skin feel fresh and clean.I have been a longtime customer of the Dickinson’s brand and turn many into fans.

  • Dickinson's Enhanced Witch Hazel Hydrating Toner with Rosewater, Alcohol Free
Similar to the original formula, the Dickinson’s Enhanced Witch Hazel Hydrating Toner does just that, hydrates! Plus it contains rosewater. So if your skin is on the drier side you would love this one!

  • Kiehl’s Calendula Herbal Extract Alcohol-Free Toner
The Kiehl’s Calendula Herbal Extract Alcohol-Free Toner is perfect for oily skin, normal skin and even sensitive skin. In addition to calendula petals, it also contains burdock root which is known to help reduce oil and allantoin to soothe the skin. You can use it day or night but I like it best as part of my morning routine. Just wait for it to be absorbed into the skin before moving on to other products so it doesn’t pill. When trying something new that isn’t drugstore I buy the smaller / trial size but in this case the smallest bottle was $23 and 4.2 oz but, it was worth it! I just finished it and will be repurchasing 😉

  • YTP Kombucha + 11% AHA Exfoliation Power Toner
This AHA toner contains lots of goodness for your skin especially if you are acne-prone! The Youth to The People Kombucha + 11% AHA Exfoliation Power Toner is a blend of 8% lactic acid and 3% glycolic acid to tackle skin texture and help with overall smoothness of your skin. Lactic acid and glycolic acid also helps reduce the appearance of pores. This has been a constant in my nighttime routine and I’m almost done with my bottle so guess I liked it huh?!
